I've played guitar 52 years (so far) because it is such an an expressive and complete instrument. So many musicians on various instruments have influenced my playing that I lost track a long time ago of what from whom, but a few stand out. Les Paul (ensemble arrangements), Sal Salvador (fingerboard logic), Barney Kessel (enthusiasm), Johnny Smith (elegance and taste). However, it has turned out that composing is where my heart really is, and there are no stylistic bounds. I go where the song needs to go. My greatest satisfaction is when performer and listener share the same emotional experience through music, that reaffirms how much alike we really are.
